Our Autism support program is individualized, to enhance the acquisition and use of communication, sensory processing, motor abilities, cognition, and social interactions.
Our therapists combine several approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, communication and social skills training, and modeling real-life situations to help develop skills such as recognizing feelings, coping with anxiety, and building confidence and self-advocacy skills.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy typically focuses on training a child to recognize a stressful situation (such as visiting a new place), and to select a specific learned strategy to cope with the situation.
At River, we believe that parents, caregivers, and siblings play a critical role in their child's therapy. We also offer workshops, education, and training to create a complete support system.
